MANILA , Philippines --Convergys Corp. has announced a multi-year human resources (HR) outsourcing deal with the Starbucks Coffee Company.

Under the terms of the contract, Convergys said it will provide human resource (HR) administration and payroll services for Starbucks employees in United States and Canada .

The service will begin with Starbucks' North American operations but "the long-term goal is to build a single global platform for HR services to support Starbucks' rapid global expansion," Convergys said.

Financial details were not disclosed, but Convergys said the deal with the Seattle-based Starbucks is expected to have a positive impact on Convergys's revenues and earnings beginning in 2009.

Starbucks operates more than 13,500 coffee shops in 40 countries and employs more than 145,000 workers.

Convergys, based in Cincinatti , Ohio , employs more than 10,500 workers in seven contact center facilities in the Philippines .

The company reported 2006 revenues of $2.8 billion.
